Edit and annotate screenshots without leaving your browser
Annotate synced Captorify captures with arrows, text and crop in the paid cloud editor. For an existing image, use the free annotation tool to add arrows, text and rectangles locally. Cloud history, collaboration and hosted sharing remain paid.
Step 01
Editor tools
Open a synced capture from your library in the paid cloud editor. Draw boxes and arrows, add text callouts or crop the image to explain the detail that matters.

The free extension result page provides local preview and export. For an existing image, the free web tools add arrows, text and rectangles, combine images, redact, extract English text, convert to PDF and add framing.

Annotation examples
Annotations turn a screenshot into an explanation. Box the broken button in a bug report, arrow to the field a customer asked about, or label the step a teammate must follow.
A few annotations save a paragraph of description and remove the guesswork about which part of the screen you mean.
Step 03
Redaction versus blur
When a capture contains sensitive details, redaction is the tool to reach for. Captorify offers blackout, blur, and pixelate, and bakes all three permanently into the export so there is no removable layer.
- Blackout overwrites pixels and is the safe choice for true secrets.
- Blur and pixelate are baked in but are not guaranteed irreversible.
- The cloud editor requires a paid plan. The free public redactor provides local blackout and suggestions.
For secrets, use opaque blackout and inspect every covered region in the exported image. Blur and pixelation can retain clues. Cloud-editor redaction requires a paid plan; the separate public manual redactor is free and processes a chosen image locally.
Step 04
Export raw and edited captures
The paid cloud editor exports the edited result. Separately, the extension provides free local PNG, JPG and paginated A4 PDF export of raw captures without an account. Choose the workflow according to whether the image needs cloud-editor changes.

Use PNG or JPG for a quick attachment and PDF when the evidence has to travel as a document.
Step 05
Editing limits
The editor is built for fast capture cleanup rather than full graphic design. It covers annotation, cropping, redaction, and export, not layered compositing or pixel-level retouching.
For privacy, remember that blur and pixelate are not guaranteed irreversible. When something truly sensitive is on screen, use blackout and confirm it in the exported file.
Step 06
Next workflows
Inspect the actual edited export before sharing it or copying its text into a ticket. A cloud-editor capture is already synced. For a no-upload redaction workflow, start with a locally saved capture and use the free public manual redactor. Before taking a capture that must remain local, turn off "Sync captures to cloud" in the extension settings, or use your browser’s native screenshot tool. Saving locally does not prevent automatic sync when it is enabled.
Choose the follow-up that fits: lock down privacy, share with control, or pull the text out for reuse.
Step 07
Point out the detail that matters
The sample dashboard below contains a disabled Export button. An arrow and a short label could identify that problem while leaving the date range and report title visible.
Use a short caption and leave the problem itself visible. Remove private details before sharing, then reopen the actual exported image.
