Captorify vs ShareX

ShareX is a free, open-source Windows application with capture, recording, editing and upload workflows. Captorify provides browser-page capture and local image tools, with optional paid cloud features. For Mac users, Captorify can cover browser screenshot tasks, but it is not a replacement for every ShareX desktop feature.

Choose for your operating system and capture task

ShareX's official site identifies it as a Windows application. Its capture options include screens, regions, windows and scrolling capture.

Captorify captures webpages through its extension in supported desktop browsers. Its free web tools work with images already saved on your device.

When to stay with ShareX

Stay with ShareX when its Windows hotkeys, after-capture tasks, desktop recording or custom upload destinations are central to your work.

Review your upload settings as well as your capture settings. Local capture and sending a file to an external destination are separate operations.

When a browser workflow is enough

Consider Captorify when you need a webpage screenshot or a local tool for an image already on your device. On a Mac, it can cover browser screenshot tasks.

Paid plans add cloud sync, editing and hosted sharing. If an image must stay off cloud storage, check that sync is disabled before capturing and use local image tools afterward.

Compare the output you actually send

Use the same invented input and capture area. Compare the last row of a long page, text readability and the saved redaction result. Record the destination of any uploaded file.

If the task is a bug report, include the reproduction steps and environment alongside the image. If you need only a small local image operation, try that operation before replacing your entire capture workflow.

FAQ

Common questions.

Short answers about capture, privacy, sharing, and billing.

Is ShareX available for Mac?
The official ShareX site describes the current application as a Windows tool. A browser workflow on Mac is an alternative for selected tasks, not a ShareX port.
Does Captorify replace ShareX upload automation?
No. Captorify offers paid cloud sync and hosted sharing, but those features do not replace ShareX custom uploaders or after-capture tasks.
Which should I choose for free annotation?
ShareX documents a free desktop annotation editor on Windows. Captorify's current free web tools do not provide a general annotation editor.
